On Time

Travel Sketches

Fellow commuters, one can use daily travel time for creative activities.

In 2010 I frequently spent a great deal of time on German buses, trams and trains. Although not an ideal environment for creative work the diversity can be very inspiring. Below you can find a few select sketches I made while travelling:

Fellow passengers do not enjoy being drawn - probably they do not enjoy being watched: An audience of nearby passengers and myself as the artist puts them on the spot and affects their behaviour. If I allow myself only a few minutes per work to remain undetected, then my fellow passenger simply carry on with their activities.

My prefered tools are a landscape sketchbook (Moleskine) and a B2 pencil (Faber-Castell).
